A to Z Literacy Movement Book Donation Guidelines
To ensure that our books are appropriate for the children who are going to use and benefit from them, we ask that you please use the following donation guidelines.
All books should be new or gently used

Spines must be intact

No writing or highlighting
-
No torn or loose covers
Fiction
-
Can be a variety of genres, including classics

Should not reflect gender, ethnic or racial stereotypes

Children's picture books with text or wordless
-
Children's novels
-
Young adult novel
Nonfiction
-
Must be current, published since 2000
-
Written for children
-
Colorful illustrations
-
Clear and specific text
-
Not specific to the United States, such as US History or civics
Reference

Must be current, published since 2000

Written for children

Colorful illustrations

Clear organization of information

Examples: maps, atlases, children's dictionaries
